Carismed - Phase 1 : Enquête de terrain
Geographic focus : Medina of Tunis, Tunisia Founded in the 7th century, the Medina of Tunis is 1300 years of history, beautiful palaces and homes, hundreds of places of worship, innumerable artisans with ancestral skill. Sadly it’s also hundreds of abandoned collapsed historical built stock, and is in urgent need for urban revival. Phase #1 : Survey During the first weeks of the project, Collectif Créatif Tunis, focused on mapping and listing all abandoned buildings and artisan clusters within the Medina of Tunis. Collectif Créatif Tunis backed this field work with an intensive scan of the data compiled by the previous projects led on the subject. Collectif Créatif Tunis will analyze and discuss the results of this survey to identify the most relevant options for the re-utilization of abandoned buildings. An inclusive approach based on collaborative brainstorming with the local community and all actors involved will define the repurposing perspectives.
